Frequently Asked Questions

I've never done therapy before. How do I get started?

The first step is to book a free, no obligation 15-minute consultation call. During this call, we can talk a bit about what concerns you're dealing with and how we can help!

You can also feel free to send us an email at with any questions you have.

How do I book an appointment and how often can I have sessions?

You can easily book an appointment at any time through our online booking page:

If you don't see a time that works for you, please get in touch with us so we can find a time that works! You can reach us at

The frequency of sessions depends on what works for you! Some people like to have a session every week, some prefer to only talk once every few weeks.

What kinds of problems can you help with? What are your specializations?

We specialize in treating childhood trauma, stress, anxiety and depression. Rachel specifically specializes in helping millennial women overcome burnout at work and low self-esteem. See our Services page for more information.

The long-term effects of trauma can show up in a lot of different ways, including anger, attachment issues, perfectionism, procrastination, etc. Check out our specialty pages to learn how these experiences can be related to trauma.

What are your qualifications and experience?

Rachel and Jyotica are both psychotherapists and registered social workers (MSW, RSW) with years of experience providing compassionate, trauma-informed care to hundreds of clients. Find out more about us here:

Do you offer in person sessions?

Yes! Rachel offers in person sessions in downtown Toronto on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including evening appointments. Rachel and Jyotica also offer virtual and phone appointments.

How long do I need to do therapy before I feel better?

It depends! Some people start feeling better in the first session because finally having a chance to talk about their situation gives them a lot of relief.

For other people, it takes a few sessions before they can really feel comfortable opening up and addressing the problems that have bothered them for years (or even their whole life). We won't rush you into anything and we will be here to support you, however long it takes.

What areas do you serve?

We have an in-person location in downtown Toronto (452 College Street) and we also offer virtual and phone sessions to people living anywhere in Ontario.

How long are sessions and how much do they cost?

Each standard session is 50 minutes long and costs $170. We also offer extra long sessions which are 100 minutes long for $300.

If you can't afford our full fees right now, please get in touch with us at to see if we can offer you a reduced, sliding scale rate.

How do I pay for sessions? Is this covered by OHIP?

We accept e-transfers and major credit cards (Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, Debit Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, UnionPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay). We also offer insurance direct billing!

Unfortunately, our services are not covered by OHIP.

What insurance companies do you direct bill to?

We can direct bill to a long list of insurers, including GreenShield, Beneva, Medavie Blue Cross, Canada Life, and more! Check out our full list here:

How long does therapy take? Do I have to commit to a certain number of sessions?

Each person is unique so it is hard to say how long it will take for you to feel like you don't need therapy anymore, but you could start noticing a difference in how you feel within a few sessions.

You don't need to commit to a certain minimum number of sessions! We let you set the pace and decide when to start and when to stop.
